Learning Objectives
A course which will provide the following knowledge and practical skills -
- Understanding the benefits of using a Tripod, Winch and Recovery Block when carrying out certain confined space operations.
- How to successfully operate a Tripod, Winch and Recovery Block including pre-use checks and assembly.
- How to correctly fit and adjust a confined space harness
- Carry out a controlled lift and lower of an operative
- Retrieve an unconscious casualty that is attached to a recovery system.
COURSE OBJECTIVIES
Theory:
- To be fully conversant in the operation of a Tripod, Winch & Recovery block.
- To educate users of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to work safely and securely in applications under breathing protection and the explanation of check, donning and doffing procedures is covered
Practical:
- To be able to carry out a controlled lift and lower of an operative and retrieve an unconscious casualty that is attached to a recovery system.
- During training delegates will be expected to carry out activities at height. This will provide an insight into the delegates’ ability to operate in such conditions
- Be able to properly and safely setup SKED strtcher equipment.
Certification
The joint certification between Spanset UK & QMT will be awarded to the participant on successful completion of the written/practical assessment. The certificate is valid for 1 years.

Entry Level
- Able to read, write and speak English at proficiency level equivalent to ESS Level 3
- Completed WSQ Perform Work in Confined Space Operation
- Physical and medically fit
